Dream Babymoon In Anguilla: Your Complete Travel Guide
Overall vibe of Anguilla:
Dreaming of a Caribbean babymoon? Anguilla holds a special place in our hearts as one of our absolute favorite destinations. Whether you're planning a babymoon, honeymoon or simply seeking an escape filled with incredible cuisine (the fresh seafood - OMG), serene vibes, breathtaking beaches, and indulgent resorts, Anguilla has it all.
Despite its small size, only 35 sq miles, the island exudes a laid-back charm that instantly captivates (and calms your nervous system!). During our visit at the end of March, we were delighted to find Anguilla wasn’t crowded at all —a sentiment echoed by the locals who assured us it's typically serene year-round.
Our experience was nothing short of magical; we’re already dreaming up when we’ll return. I'm so excited to share our recommendations that truly elevated our time there, making it one of our most cherished trips yet.
Quick Guide to Anguilla:
Overall vibe: laid-back, peaceful, beautiful, tropical island with amazing beaches, food and luxury resorts
How long to stay: 4-6 nights (we did 5 and thought it was ideal)
Where to stay: Malliouhana Resort (iconic luxury in paradise)
Getting around: taxi or rent car (it’s a small island so almost everything is within a 20 minute drive)
Getting to Anguilla: you can fly directly to Anguilla (AXA) from Miami (that’s what we did) or you can fly in St. Maarten (SXM) and take a ferry or sea shuttle to Anguilla (about 25 min)

Where to stay in Anguilla
Malliouhana Resort (Instagram: @malliouhana):
Malliouhana is truly a one of a kind resort. It’s been an Anguilla staple since 1984, with Armani being their first ever guest. Before arriving, they connected us with a personal travel guide who booked and coordinated all of our activities (boat charter, Moke rental, car rental) and meal reservations.
When we arrived, we were greeted with a homemade rum punch and lemongrass towel (this is the resort’s signature scent and it’s heavenly). Our room (the Ocean View Premium) was spacious, clean and had incredible views from the large balcony. Each night, while at dinner, they left a special treat in our room (from Guava cheese to homemade chocolate to cake).
The staff were incredibly kind, helpful and went out of their way to connect with us on a personal level. The restaurants on site are absolutely delicious, the spa is exquisite and the pools are a dreamy paradise. I could go on forever; we LOVED it here.
Things To Do At Malliouhana:
Breakfast & dinner at Celeste
Lunch at Bar Soleil or Leon’s
Sunset drinks at Bar Soleil
Lounge by the pool (we also loved the cold treats they served throughout the day like the homemade coconut and guava popsicles)
Workout classes overlooking the water
Enjoy the spa: there’s a sauna and steam room available during their open hours or you can book a service. I got a pedicure and prenatal massage and it was seriously one of the best massages I’ve ever received.
Play tennis/pickleball
Let your kids play at the kid’s center
Walk down the steps to Meads Bay Beach or Malliouhana’s private beach (they provide beach chairs)
Walk down to the lookout spot to the right of the yoga deck (right behind the hammock)
It was the BEST babyboon destination but would also be an incredible place to visit anytime or have your wedding/honeymoon or other special event here.
Best restaurants in Anguilla
Blanchard’s (Instagram: @blanchardsrestaurant): Blanchard’s seafood is a must; it’s super fresh/tasty and is right at the beach! This was our favorite dinner on the trip. The panko lemon shrimp, brussels caesar and crayfish were absolutely AMAZING. They also have the best oreo ice cream for dessert (it’s technically from their beach shack but if you ask, they’ll usually serve it at dinner).
Blanchard’s Beach Shack (Instagram: @blanchardsrestaurant): This is Blanchard’s casual sister beach restaurant which is perfect for lunch. The tables are right on the sand and you can see ocean. The vibes are super laid-back and the menu has lots of great options. We loved the mahi tacos and burger!
Sandy Island (Instagram: @sandyislandaxa): This is a MUST for lunch. It’s a fresh seafood restaurant on a tiny island (there’s nothing but the restaurant on the island). You have to take a boat to get there. We had our captain take us the day we chartered a boat or you can can take a sea shuttle from Sandy Ground Beach. The seafood is SO good and it’s a really special experience.
Sunset Lounge at The Four Seasons: Such a VIBE for sunset drinks and/or dinner (Asian tapas). We loved the sushi, pad thai and general tso’s chicken. They don’t take reservations so just keep that in mind. We went on a Saturday and live music started at 8 (they played great lounge house music before the live band) and there was a fireworks show around 830. By 9, the bar was super alive with people dancing and having a great time.
Celeste at Malliouhana: Absolutely beautiful, delicious seafood restaurant on the cliffside of Meads Bay Beach. It’s fantastic for both breakfast and dinner. I highly recommend getting the tableside ceviche (I skipped it being pregnant but my husband got it and it looked SO good). I also loved the mahi-mahi curry and molten cake with pistachio ice cream (sans berries).
Sharky’s: Chill, but very popular seafood restaurant for dinner. You have to get the lobster and shrimp risotto!!
Bar Soleil at Malliouhana: Amazing, pretty casual spot for lunch or sunset drinks (it’s the perfect sunset view!!). The mahi sandwich was the best one I’ve ever had and we also loved the fish tacos and tropical salad with chicken. You could also grab a burger or seafood sandwich after getting sunset drinks if you go for drinks in the evening.
Veya (Instagram: @veyarestaxa): Another highly recommended, great restaurant. It’s not on the beach but still has an amazing atmosphere that feels like a peaceful treehouse. The food was very good (you have to get the shrimp cigars and try the hot johnnycakes they serve with the bread) but I will say, we enjoyed the food at the other restaurants more so I’d prioritize going to those first.
Don’t go:
C-level at Aurora Resort: the views were amazing but the food wasn’t great. I’d skip it.
Food to try in Anguilla
Crayfish: trying local crayfish is a MUST if you like seafood. Imagine lobster but WAY more tender, sweet and juicy (like 10x better). Most of the restaurants serve it as it’s a staple in Anguilla.
Johnnycakes: johnnycakes are like a blend of a pancake, cornbread and crescent roll with a tad bit more sweetness. They are SO good.
Guava Cheese: it’s not actually cheese, as I thought. It’s more like a gummy bear/candy made from Guava fruit. SO good.
Mahi-mahi: the mahi on Anguilla is some of the best!
Best things to do in Anguilla
Charter a boat: we used Calypso Charters for a private boat excursion and it was amazing. The boat was huge, beautiful and in pristine condition. The captain and co-captain were very easy-going, kind and willing to let us choose how we wanted to spend the day (which included going to Sandy Island for lunch). Every beach in Anguilla is amazing but there’s something extra special about experiencing it from a boat.
Rent a car & beach hop/explore the island: we actually rented a Moke (then switched to a car for the other days) because it was too hot and too jerky for us. I’d opt for a car instead of a Moke unless you feel like it’s something you’re dying to experience.
Go see the Anguilla Arch: this is a top lookout spot for good reason. It only take a few minutes to see but is so worth it.
Drive down Back Street: the view of Sandy Ground Beach is beautiful from this street. I’d drive through if you have a car but I wouldn’t go out of your way to taxi here.
Best beaches in Anguilla
Rendezvous Bay: our favorite beach and the best for swimming in our experience! We loved the super calm, clear water and the mountainous backdrop of St. Marteen. You can enter through Aurora resort (we had lunch there so they let us in…not sure if they let people in just for beach access) or near The Sunshine Shack. The main options for food are Sunshine Shack or C-level at Aurora. We didn’t love C-level but heard great things about Sunshine Shack for BBQ.
Meads Bay: beautiful beach that you can walk down the steps to from Malliouhana or enter through the public entrance. Blanchard’s Beach Shack is where I’d go for lunch if you’re looking to eat at the beach.
Shoal Bay: voted the best beach in the world. Super clear waters and soft, white sand. There are some casual lunch options on the beach if you’re looking for food.
Maundays Bay: The Belmond Cap Juluca Resort stretches the entire beach but they allow public access even if you aren’t staying there. This beach was also good for swimming; it wasn’t quite as calm as Rendevous but you could definitely still swim. For food, I’d try Cap Juluca’s restaurant, The Cap Shack.
