A Dreamy Island Vacation: The Best Things To Do In Sardinia

Overall vibe of Sardinia:

Sardinia is a magical island in the Tyrrhenian Sea off of the west coast of Italy. It’s beautiful, aqua waters and mountainous landscape rivals Greece (our fav island ever is Milos, Greece but Sardinia is absolutely worth a trip to as well). Basically everywhere you go, you’re surrounded by incredible views and majestic beaches. The food is a mix of Mediterranean seafood, Italian pasta and pizza - so good!

Quick Guide to Sardinia:

Overall vibe: magical island with stunning beaches and crystal clear, aqua water

How long to stay: 3-7 nights

Where to stay: the northeast (although I’m sure there’s so much more to explore)

Getting around: I highly recommend renting a car. It’s a big island and you’ll want to be able to adventure to different beaches.

Where to stay in Sardinia

We didn’t love where we stayed so I’m not going to recommend it but after visiting and doing more research, we’d aim to stay near Porto Cervo or Baja Sardinia if we went back. Here’s 2 options I’d look into:

Villa Bianca

Hotel Cala di Volpe

Le Suites Porto Cervo

B&B Anastasia

Sardinia airports: where to fly into

Sardinia has 3 airports: Alghero, Olbia and Cagliari.

We ended up changing our flights from Alghero to Olbia since we realized there was more we wanted to explore in the Northeast region. I definitely recommend researching what you most want to do and see and THEN choosing your airport.

Where to eat in Sardinia

Il Vesuvio (Instagram: @il_vesuvio): BEST pizza I’ve ever had; we went 2 nights in a row it was so good. We loved the Calipso (carbonara and bacon) pizza, but you really can’t go wrong.

Summer Beach Adults Only Restaurant (Instagram: @summerbeachrestaurant): great seafood restaurant with beautiful views of the ocean. We got the fresh catch sea bass and it was SO good. They bring the whole fish out and cut/serve it in front of you.

Hilo Street Food (Instagram: @hilo_poke_official): super casual but good spot for poke in Olbia.

La Pecora Nera: AMAZING gelato; Pistachio was our fav.

Cafeteria Pasticceria Tiramisu: really great coffee and pastries.

Best things to do in Sardinia

Explore The MANY Beaches: There are so many beaches and they are all beautiful but our favorite was Capriccioli Beach East. It was a smaller beach but super beautiful and peaceful. If you have more time to venture further, this list of Sardinia beaches looks incredible.

Boat day: We did this Airbnb boat tour and it was one of our favorite experiences ever!!!! If you like boating, book it now! We did a private tour but you can also join others in a group. The captain took us to amazing private beaches, took drone photos and videos for us and kept our glasses full of Prosecco ;) Driving to the beaches was great but seeing the island by boat is an absolutely unforgettable experience.

Pool day: After staying somewhere that didn’t have a pool with views, this is something we’d definitely look for if we went back.
